The tulips are finally back! And to celebrate this, our Dutch neighbours are going all out! Every third Saturday in January, Amsterdam celebrates National Tulip Day. Dutch tulip growers place more than 200,000 tulip bulbs in a temporary garden on Amsterdam's Dam Square. As soon as they bloom, people are free to pick their own bouquet of tulips, isn't that nice? The symbolism of tulips

If you are still unsure, here are some tips on which one to choose:

Red tulips

Red is the colour of love and red tulips are also a symbol of "true love". If someone gives you a bouquet of red tulips... No doubt he or she has feelings for you or cannot do without your company!

Pink tulips

Pink is a soft and reassuring colour. Pink tulips symbolise elegance and happiness. Do you want to wish someone good luck? Then pink tulips are the perfect gift! Also ideal for a friend.

Purple tulips

Purple is a symbol of peace and spirituality. Purple tulips are perfect for all kinds of occasions. For example, they are ideal in a work environment because of their relaxing and restful appearance.

Care tips for tulips

Did you know that tulips continue to grow once in the vase? To prevent this growth and the stems from falling over to the side, simply make a small hole at the base of the tulip head with a small needle. The result is guaranteed! However, tulips that fall to the side can also be elegant and give an original style in a square vase for example. You can either let them fall on one side and accentuate the wave movement or spread them evenly. Do you want to enjoy your tulips for longer? Follow our Euroflorist care tips for healthy tulips:

1. Cut the stems at an angle to increase the surface area for water absorption.
2. Make sure the vase is clean as bacteria are the number one enemy of tulips.
3. Tulips need a lot of fresh water, but not too much: 10cm is enough, but adjust every 2 days.
4. Place the vase in a shady, draught-free spot, away from heat sources and cool for the night.
