For those who don't, you can create a real spring garden by planting bulbs in a pot or a small wooden box for a country or vintage feel. Placed on a windowsill or balcony, your flowers will be a good way to get away from it all at a lower cost.
What are spring flowers?
To celebrate the arrival of spring, nature awakens and takes on a more active life. The most popular flowers in spring are :
tulips: There are many varieties with different sizes and colours, wild tulips, single or double tulips, different flowering times or vase life. Tulips are usually found from December to May, symbolising the joy of life and love.
ranonculus: Probably one of the most popular spring flowers. It blooms from January to April and represents passionate love. When you give a bouquet of buttercups to a special person, you are also expressing that this person is unique and rare in your eyes.
daffodils & narcissus: These are the ultimate spring flowers. Rich, fresh yellow or mischievous white, they raise their little heads in January, sometimes even out of the snow! They are the floral emblems of Easter and therefore symbolise hope and the courage to face life.
anemones: this is one of the first flowers to announce spring. In nature, the anemone thrives in undergrowth with flowers ranging from white to pink. In florists' shops, you can find stronger colours such as purple, red or fuchsia. The anemone usually blooms from February (sometimes as early as mid-January) to autumn and represents hope and transience.
muscari: Easily recognisable with its small clusters of blue bells, the muscari is a small bulbous plant that is very popular in spring flower arrangements. Muscari has the advantage of being cold hardy.
primroses: a popular flowering plant with a wide range of colours from yellow, white, pink to red, the primrose is a true spring messenger. Lurking in a window box or combined with other bulbous plants, primroses have a lot to offer!
